Men and women live in a vast underground powerhouse with a few rules they believe protect them from the toxic and ruined world above. Whether they're exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about.

And when the status quo that maintains order is challenged, enforcement and punishment ensue
It's an interesting take on the underground bunker story of a people who have survived underground for so long that a civilization has emerged there, with traditions, myths, beliefs, rituals, and ceremonies rooted in events that have been forgotten and a social structure established as the status quo. Good acting from Oyelowo, with familiar faces in Rashida Jones and Will Patton
That's the premise, and while it's not entirely original (like Snowpiercer, Dark City, etc.), there's enough that's new and seems to be well-translated into a TV series. (But as you can see from the show's poster, they're guest stars, giving way to a regular cast with Rebecca Ferguson in the lead role.) The show seems pretty decent, with good production values.
There are elaborate sets and good CGI that provide a believable atmosphere
While the suspicious mind picks up on some obvious conspiracies early on, mysteries are revealed that keep me watching.
