Men and women live in a giant underground silo with different rules that they believe are in place to protect them from the toxic and ruined world above. Whether they're exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about. Season 1 covers the first 30 chapters of the book "Wool" – the book has 82 chapters. The floor fans in various episodes spin in the wrong direction, relative to the orientation of the blades. Spinning this way doesn't push or pull air. Featured in WatchMojo: Top 10 TV Series of 2023 You Need to Watch (2023). It's an interesting take on the underground bunker story, of a people who have survived underground for so long that a civilization has emerged within them, with traditions, myths, beliefs, rituals, and ceremonies rooted in events that have been forgotten, and a status quo social structure is established. And when the status quo that maintains order is challenged, execution and punishment ensue. A power structure is formed, creating a stratified population, both figuratively and literally, from the top of the silo all the way down. That's the premise, and while it's not entirely original (think Snowpiercer, Dark City, etc.), there's enough novelty here and it feels well-executed for a TV series. Good acting by Oyelowo, with familiar faces in Rashida Jones and Will Patton. (But as you can see from the series poster, there are guest stars to make way for the regular cast, with Rebecca Ferguson in the lead role.) The series seems to be pretty decent, with good production values. There are elaborate sets and good CGI to provide a believable atmosphere. While a suspicious mind might spot some obvious conspiracies early on, there are mysteries that are uncovered that will keep me glued to the screen.
