Loosely based on the theft of $18 million worth of maple syrup from a warehouse in Quebec in 2011-2012; five people were sentenced to prison
Scenario
When maple syrup producer Ruth Landry finds her livelihood under attack by greedy competitors who were once her friends, she hatches a plan to get revenge and shake up the industry.
This series starts off great and then kind of… falls apart
I didn’t realize this was “season 1.” I was led to believe it was one complete story told in 6 parts.
For this reason, it doesn’t quite cut it, it leaves you hanging, and it drags on for far too long
The cast and set design are great, but it’s like the original Twin Peaks: once the “big crime” is solved, the story is over.
Trying to dwell on weird subplots becomes painful, no matter how much we enjoy spending time with these quirky characters
I realize I should have drenched this review in corny jokes, but maples are always sad because they're so corny…
